Inulin (Cichorium intybus L.)
Inulin is a natural water-soluble dietary fiber supplement, the main component of which is inulin polysaccharide (composed of fructose molecular chains), which is mainly used to regulate the balance of intestinal flora and improve digestive function. Inulin is a prebiotic substance and cannot be directly digested by the human body, but it can be used as "food" for beneficial flora in the intestines, helping to promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms such as bifidobacteria and lactic acid bacteria. Inulin is widely found in the roots of plants such as Jerusalem artichoke and chicory. It is difficult to obtain in large quantities in daily diet, so it is often supplemented in the form of health products. For the general population, inulin is suitable for situations where they need to improve bowel movement regularity, relieve mild constipation, or want to maintain intestinal health through dietary adjustments.
